Liam Lawson finished fourteenth at the Italian Grand Prix after starting from the back of the grid, a second consecutive race outside the points.

The Racing Bulls driver was the only starter on soft tyres, a deliberate gamble intended to create track position early. It nearly worked, but rivals emerging on fresh rubber cost him significant time and left him unable to climb higher. Lawson said afterwards the strategy simply did not come off.

Teammate Isack Hadjar started from the pit lane and finished tenth, salvaging a single point for the team.

At the front, Max Verstappen converted pole into his third victory of the season at Monza, controlling the race from the opening laps.
